Door repair & adjustment · Atlanta & Metro Atlanta, GA
We fix interior and exterior doors that rub, drag, drift open on their own or refuse to latch: hinges tightened or reset, strike plates moved, edges planed, worn handles replaced and tired weatherstripping renewed. A Tool Box Pros handyman finds out why the door stopped fitting before adjusting it, so the fix holds through Atlanta's humid summers.
What we do
Most door complaints come down to one of these four problems.
We find where the door binds, then shim or tighten the hinges, or plane and reseal the edge if swelling has made it too wide for the frame.
Stripped hinge screws are swapped for longer ones that bite into the framing, and bent hinges are replaced so the door hangs square again.
A strike plate that no longer lines up is moved or filed, and worn knobs, levers and deadbolts are replaced with hardware you pick.
Worn weatherstripping and door sweeps on exterior doors are replaced, and bifold or sliding closet doors that jump their track are realigned or given new hardware.
How we work
We swing the door, check the gaps around it, and look at the hinges, frame and floor. A door rubbing at the top corner needs a different fix from one that swelled in a wet season, and you get the price before we start.

Most fixes are adjustments: tightening, shimming, moving a strike or planing an edge. New hardware goes into the existing holes where possible, so the door and frame aren't left with extra patches.

Before we leave, the door should swing freely, close without a shove and latch on the first push. We open and close it with you watching, then sweep up any shavings.

Why homeowners choose us
We adjust the door you have before suggesting anything be replaced.

The quote
Door work is priced per door once we've seen what's wrong. A quick hinge adjustment and a planed, resealed edge are different jobs, and the price we agree before starting reflects which one yours needs.
Good to know
Have a question about your job? Call or text (770) 746-7207 and we'll talk it through with you before you book anything.
Our work is repairing and adjusting the doors you already have. Hanging a new pre-hung door, fixing a frame pushed out of square by settling, or cutting a new opening is a job for a door installer or carpenter, and we'll tell you that at the estimate.
Wood swells with humidity, and Atlanta summers are humid. If a door rubs only part of the year, we usually adjust the hinges first; planing comes last, and any edge we plane is sealed so it doesn't soak up moisture again.
We can replace a worn knob, lever or deadbolt with new hardware and realign the strike plate so the bolt slides in easily. Rekeying, lockouts and high-security locks are work for a locksmith.
